1997 Explorer AWD convert to part time?

I have a 1997 explorer 5.0L all time 4wd and want to swap the case out to a part time case. Will a case with the electric shift motor out of a similier year explorer with a 4.0L bolt up to the transmission? I would wire up the shift motor myself and I dont want to cut this up to install a lever engaged case. Need help!

Do a search for 4406 swap most members do the manual swap but a couple have used the electronic version. The explorer cases will not work.
