Just a heads up. I removed the front driveshaft from my 97 5.0L AWD to sort out a slight vibration under acceleration. Well, I determined the slight vibration was indeed the AWD Transfer Case but what I also learned was the vehicle would not hold when parked on a slope without the parking brake set. It would slowly roll. Apparently the viscous coupling in the AWD case is connected in the drive train in such a way that both front and rear wheels are needed for a functioning Transmission Park to lock correctly. Of course my wife had to tell me this when she found the X had rolled out of a parking spot. Duh. Now the front shaft goes back in while I figure out what to do with the T Case. I don't like vibration!
