1997 Explorer trans

my tranny went out in my 1997 explorer im being told that only a 97 explorer or aerostar tranny will fit it then there are 2 types with overdrive drum sensor and with out i cant figure out is what mine is ive been told what to look for but im not sure what it looks like or where it might be can anyone help please a picture of it or something

You are better off checking the build tag that they put on the transmission and then finding another with the same model number.

Your transmission is a 5R55E, and they may be difficult to find in good condition.

I got a re-man unit from Phoenix Rebuilders (list on eBay a lot). Worked well -- good price for a totally rebuilt unit also.
