I just picked up a 1997 Ranger 3.0. The previous owner said they replaced the motor (not sure from what year though) and after the motor swap the trans. would barely go in reverse so they had the trans. rebuilt with the same problem. When they brought it back to the shop the mechanic told him that it needs a wiring harness from a 97 Ranger 3.0. I don't get why that should be a problem, I might be an ass to assume but wouldn't a shop keep the same harmess from the original motor? Anyways I now have the truck and it runs good but like I said it barely goes in reverse and when it does go in reverse and I give it alot of gas it kind of slips a little. It seems fine in other gears however it is really sluggish but that could be me not being used to the 3.0.

So, no one has any input???
