Just a simple question...

do 1997 Explorers use the same shock absorbers as 1999 Explorers?

Thanks!

Except for thoes equiped with the factory air shocks, all '95-'01 Explorers use the same shock. This includes 2 and 4wd.

thanks for the reply

I ordered Bilstein shocks for my 1997 Mountaineer V8 but I traded that in for a 99 Dakota V8 (which then became my off-road toy with 32" tires and all sorts of goodies).

So the shocks have been sitting in my basement for a while. Now my sister now has a 99 Mountaineer which needs all the help it can get in terms of ride quality! She's also going to get my old 31" snow tires... they should fit without any rubbing, right?

Speaking of Blistein shocks, I just got them in, but whats the difference between the 2WD and 4WD Blistein shocks? Their website has 2 totally different part numbers on them. Are the 2WD model stiffer than the 4WD? All 95-up explorers uses the same size shocks(excluding the air shocks)? Please help, I don't want to temp install the 4WD shocks on my 2WD, if they are not going to fit.
