My 1998 Explorer with 187,800 miles on it will not idle when it is below 40% outside. When I first start the engine and its cold, below 40% the engine will not idle. It just stumbles and dies. I have to keep the engine running by holding the throttle above 1500 rpm's. I can drive it 2 blocks and it idles fine and starts fine the rest of the day. It just does it when it cold on the very first start of the day. Any ideas?
Thanks, Andy

IAC valve may need a cleaning. (Idle Air Control)

Thanks I read that somewhere on internet that the IAC may be the problem or the intake gaskets. I am going to try the IAC if it warms up a little. 4 below and 21 inches of snow her in Kentucky the last few days. Wife is driving it to work everyday. Her 2013 Escape won't pull at all. I hate the new Escape's and the so called positive traction that don't work. I am a ford person but i may have to change after this POS.
