- 1998 Explorer 5.0 V8 XLT
Ok so i have a 1998 Explorer XLT with a 5.0 v8 and shes got 195,344 miles. Recently I noticed a black liquid leaking from under it. At 1st i thought it was an oil leak but i checked my oil and the levels were normal and the color of the oil was still that fresh oil color... clearish brown..not black. I felt the leaking liquid and smelled it, It looked and smelled like wet black paint wich i thought was weird.. anyways i checked the trans fluid, That all checked normal and with the normal clearish red color it cant be the radiator cuse the leak is comming from the middle like right were my drive shaft starts... mabye a little further down. It cant be the break lines cuse id ovbi, have no breaks... nor can it be a power steering leak cuse id notice a change in my turning. My only guess would be an exhaust leak but i dont get how it can be black in color unless its mixing with dirt and sludge of some sort...Please if anyone has had this problem let me know!!
p.s My check engine light has been on for a long time i know its becuase the o2 sensor is bad... and i think i have a hole in my muffler. So this is why im betting its an exhaust leak.
