1998 Exp Sport Speaker Size Specs

I have a 1998 Explorer Sport (2 door) and I was wondering what size speakers are in my vehicle. I went to the 'Quick Reference' thread in this forum only to be a lil confused. It said something about 5.5 x 7.5 in all four spots but i've heard people putting in 6.5's in the front and 5x7's in the back. If someone would please clarify what sizes will fit in my explorer and if I need adapters to put in 5x7's or whatever. Thanks

The sport has a true 6x8 in both doors and in the rear side panels. I'm using 2 pair of true 6x8's made by pioneer which I think may be the only company to make a true 6x8. Most 5x7s's will also fit because the brackets extent out to match the 6x8 holes but it may not fill up the entire hole. I know people who use 6.5" speakers also but they must buy or make an adpater. If you want to get to one easy to check it out just snap the grill out of one on the rear speakers and take the 4 screws out. Hope this helps.
