1998 explorer muffler

its single muffler with dual pipes and its not true duals

Got it. So you have a Flowmaster, not Flowmasters. You really have dual tips and dual tailpipes, not dual "Flows", right?

Thanks for the clarification.

ive been listening to alot of these video threads and i think im going to install the cherry bomb pro muffler. id like to know if id need to replace the tailpipe. also do i need anything welded because id like to do the install myself and save some money also should i keep the resonator on or take it off. i have a 98 four door explorer, 4.0 sohc. what are the inlet and outlet measurments i need for the muffler.

What you need to do is get under the truck and see what your inlet configuration is, if it is dual inlet, then you will need to get a magnaflow y-pipe before you install the cherry bomb pro since they don't come in a dual inlet design. If you need the y-pipe, there is a write up on here that a member did a few years back on where to cut the pipe to ensure that it fits properly. And if you do need it, just make sure to get one that has 2.25" inlets and outlet and get the muffler with 2.25 in/out. Then you should be able to do a direct swap. I really wish cherry bomb made the pro with a dual inlet configuration, cause it would have already been on my frontier.
