...It would help to know if your Ranger is 4x4, 4x2, auto or stick...:scratch:...What is your trans code on your door sticker???
...I'm going to take a guess here that your trans code is "T", it's a 4 speed auto, and the tranny is a 4r44E..

...The 4r44E is a 4 speed auto tranny, also used in the second gen X's...As for a straight swap it should be possible...
