Are the 1998 and up Explorers very rust resistant?
I've driven my 98 Sport in the salt for 4 years and
there is no indication of rust.

I have rust on the frame and underbody. also the inside of the front bumper. I bought it used and I think it was neglected. If I bought it new I would have had it coated.

I have a 97 who has seen nothing but New York winter and am just sarting to see slight signs of body rust.

I have a 98 sport that I bought in Missouri. The undercarriage is very rusty.

I have a '91 Navajo that I have run all year round in Wisconsin. Also had 10 mile commute on "salt road" I've seen them salting bare, dry pavement in winter before it snows. Anyway, rust wise it was great till about '99 or '00. Driver side rocker now gone (like every explorer over 5 years old), driver door going.

10 years b4 rust catches up in WIS = not too darn bad!

Wish I could say that about the trannie

Rust

I have a 92 XLT that I took very good care of through the years, washed and waxed at regular intervals and even had it undercoated at Zebart when I got it. Under the rear doors on both sides are so rusted out they are literally falling off.

I've had my 98 for al of 4 mos.but underneath every thing is rusty. when thingss slow down this winther I am going to spray it off and hit it with converter.
