for upper ball joints just replace the whole upper control arm. If the B/J is done, more than likely the control arm bushings are dried out and cracked also. A fairly straight forward repair.
for lower ball joints, after removing the snap ring on top and hammering out the old one, you will need a ball joint press to install. These can usually be rented out at auto parts stores.
Moog seems to be a recommended maker. I just use the parts house brand if it has a lifetime warranty.

I recently did upper control arms & lower ball joints on my 2000 Ranger (same ft suspension) & I used Moog parts, would not use anything else.

I see the driver side is one piece and the passenger side is 2 pieces? I understand changing one piece one the driver side but do I change the smaller piece on the passenger side ?

I'd go with the stronger one piece Moog K80068. Only drawback is the cost of alignment and camber kits if needed.

thank you again, I go to weber wheel alignments here is south fl. these guys use no machines whatsoever.....all eyesight and specs.... when I took the 99 in for a wheel alignment they charged me 25 bucks for the camber kit....no complaints here. and thanks again.

Great to hear. Small shops and TRUE specialists are disappearing and worth searching for. Many large chains charge $89 to set toe.

I bought a lifetime alignment for $170 for my Ex back when it had 90k on it. It has paid for itself multiple times over.

Moog ball joints here. I initially replaced them with whatever the Pepboys brand is---total trash. They were dried out and making a sh!tload of noise after 6,000 miles. 100k on the Moogs and they're still great.

Did upper UCA's and ball joints with Moog (one piece on the pass side) in April last year and haven't looked back. Little over 17k miles so far with zero issues. With the camber kit it came to about $230. Lifetime tire rotations and alignments came free with the Goodyear Radial Wranglers.

thanks everybody !!
