1999 awd issues<< noob to site

i am new to this site,, far as posting, i have been a member for a while... ,, now i have the awd 4404 issue,,, and i am looking to solve it as many of y`all have...


i wan to swap 4404bw to 4406bw,, i have read all the how to`s and such.. but i have some questions...

can i use the 98 expeditions case, as it is a 4406e i believe... it is a 5.4lt,,
and if so ,, what can i do to change the case to a manuel shift,,,

(meaning, i want to remove the shift motor and make some kind of bracket to do a cable control for the 4x4 settings)

this seems to make the most since, i should not have to cut a hole in my floor , and the 4406e case is cheaper for me..... since i would be able to get the driveshafts with it making my shopping list small,,, any help would be great , from the great minds on this board..

again,,, my truck is the 99 explorer awd, 5.0

nevermind on it,,,, i got it figured out...

i am DOING the 4404 to 4406 swap.....

4406 electric, with tod,,, but i am doing a simple switch for the tod, settings,
and removing the shiftmotor, install custom linkage to use a shift cable, and lever mounted under seat,, ..

i am also going to get rid of the "good" parts from my awd 4404 case...
