Nice forums.
My father in law just bought a 1999 Explorer.
It is having a hard time starting,
It doesn't make mush sense to me on what it is doing
It starts and runs for about 5 secs and is loud like the engine is about to come apart. After the 5 secs it will not start again unless it sits for about a week
We drained the oil to checked for metal. none found, The oil did smell like gas.
It has spark. and has fuel and air.
I am not sure how the fords work for timing control/fuel/spark control
any idea on whay it will start and run for about 5 secs than die and not restart unless sitting for a week or so?
The people he bought it off said they pulled into a store turned it off,. came back out cranked it started than died. now it only does that
