1999 explorer Fender flare

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has successfully detached the grey fender flare off of a 1999 explorer? I just picked up a spare fender from another 1999 explorer, but it didnt have the fender flare on it and I wanted to take the fender flare from my older fender and put it on the new one. I would want to do this on the front left driver side. See pic below. Thanks.

if you take off the inner fender liner and reach you hand in you should feel the clips that hold the flares on. there are a couple of screws also... at least that's how it is on my 99 sport

I hope that's it because I was told that you couldnt take it off, which would suck.
