first question: did you buy it at a ford dealer?
if the answer is yes then hit them up for some free remotes cause we all have them laying around otherwise they're about $50 at the parts counter(my personal opinion, if you didn't buy it at a dealer, goto to the used car dept and talk to a salesmen, they'll have one or more in their desks that they'l be willing to part w/ cheaper - i've sold used ones for $20ea and what my boss doesn't know won'y hurt me), on the issue of the key - if it's the fat head key then you must go to the dealership to have you cut and programmed, again if you purchased your x from a ford dealer hit them up for a free key cause it's a ford survey requirment that all ford products sold at a ford/linc/merc dealership new or used come w/ 2 sets of keys. otherwise you'll probably get tagged appx $30 for the key and appx $32.50 labor for the programming(they'll need to hook your x upto the ngs computer to access the program, appx 1/2hr labor), as for the remote if you get one at the same time as the key the dealer should program it for free, that only takes a couple of sec's.
