I have a 1999 XLT and had to replace the driver's side section of the parking brake cable between the wheel to where it joins the passenger side cable at a special link. The only way to connect the link to the cable that runs to the parking brake pedal is to disconnect the cable at the pedal itself. I removed the parking brake pedal assembly but cannot figure out how to disconnect the cable from it. Once disconnected I should be able to attach the cable to the link under the vehicle and then reconnect the cable at the pedal assembly. I find it very strange that there is no place to adjust the cable tension. Any suggestions, steps, photos or videos on this? Thank you!
