Hey all,
I picked up a 1999 Ford Explorer XLS with the 4.0 SOHC, for $250.00 cash. The thing is mint inside, still has a new car smell, so I had to have it. I was also surprised to find that nothing has ever sat in the cargo area, and that under the cargo area mat, are the factory "Explorer" logo floor mats. AC is cold too.
However, it was advertised as having a cracked head, I'm thinking they are full of it, as it misfires horribly, and there are metal shavings in the oil ( no water though ).
It will run and drive, but it runs very rough, when you go to turn the wheel, it struggles, and skips as well.
I'm already assuming that I will have to end up putting a motor in this thing, but I want some input from some of you first. I've only ever owned two 1997 Mountaineers with the 5.0 V8.
Thanks.
