1999 Mounty - Speaker size?

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to read this thread.
Soon I am going to purchase new speakers for my 1999 Mounty.
Currently I have 5 year old Infinity 5X7's installed.

I am pretty sure I will be purchasing the Infinity Kappa 680.9cs
6" x 8" 2-way Kappa Series Component System
Would I need a mounting adapter if I went with the 6X8's? instead of the 5X7's?
Would it be possible to install 6X8's with little or no modifications?

Any information will be very much appreciated.

It was my understanding that 6x8 is what came in it facotory, at least thats what came in my 99 explorer. if you go to crutchfield.com they tell you the sizes, thats how i found mine out

I know the Pioneer 6x8's fit right in with no adpters needed. That is what size are in the front and rear doors. I don't know if the hole patterns for the Infinity's are the same, but I'm sure they have more than one pattern option. If not, it will be a matter of drilling a screw hole, no cutting needed.

here is the link to crutchfield after i put my x in and these are Infinity Reference 6820cs and they are 139.99 and free shipping and they also give you a warreny for 1 year. Comes with 2 6x8(5x7) componets, 2 1" tweeters and 2 crossovers so idk if they are as good as what you was wanting but just letting you know.

The 5x7 and 6x8 fit into the same hole. They are pretty much the same size speaker, most of the time it depends on how you measure them.
