Help! I started having a 2-3 flare problem show up at around 80K miles on a rebuilt transmission. I had the dealer change the tranny oil and now its worse! Does not shift into 3rd gear at all; engine just revs. All other gears seem to fine. The dealer said that the tranny oil was pink and clean when they drained it. Wants to go inside see whats going on. Took it to another guy who said I need a complete rebuild. According to him, a solenoid change for 600 bucks would not solve the problem. He won't be changing any gears, just replacing all the other parts.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmission section. The 5R55W has a problem with servo bore wear. You said that the rebuilt transmission has 80K miles on it. How many miles did it have before you had it rebuilt? Did they install the servo bore repair kit?

Reconditioned transmission at 118K. They replaced the assembly set; twands, exch rebuilt torque converter, plates, OD clutch drum, boost valve pump, planet carr, sun gear, new shaft, clutch drive, planet bearing, ring gear, sungear, solenoid shift control. Total bill was 2900.00.

Repairs were done in 2006. Were the servo bore repair kits available back then?
