any auto parts store has aluminum blocks and new u-bolts. I've typically seen them at autozone and pep boys for about $30, they may be by the trailering supply section. They are also referred to as "Lift blocks" for vehicles that are spring over axle, but they will lower a spring under axle truck like an explorer.

I've found a bunch of 3" and 2" but nothing like a 2.5....might just have to suck it up and jost go with the 2"ers. I want to go 3 but I still want a decent ride.

i dont know about 2.5.. but AutoZone and advance auto have 2" for sure.. and like he said^^^^^ they might say lift. but for us they lower

Any difference in ride quality between a 2 or 3" drop. I have the lowering keys comming and will be getting the adjustment cams from a local shop. I also plan on a set of Doetsch Nitro Slammers and cutting the bumps down. Am I missing anything?

If you do everything properly and make sure that you dont cut corners and take your time it will turn out fine, and for the most part keep your stock ride. My buddie is currently lowering his 3" and doing the same things you are and he says that it rides just fine..
As for me I will sick with Jacking mine up.
But hope everything turns out good. Send pics when you are done i am interested in how it turns out

Also if you have any doubts go to the sportruck section, i bet if you look around there you can find ideads or answers to any concerns or questions you may have

I have been for like 3 days now...Only choice I have to make now is 2 or 3. I don't want to go 2 and wish I had gone 3 but on the same hand I don't want to go 3 and have allignment issuse and it ride like crap....This is the part that drives me nuts.

I am not too sure about lowering.. but know that with a 2" lift you have to get like 3* camber shims. so i would imagine it would be the same if you lower it. I have jsut now been starting to call around to find a place to align it and one quote was $150!!!!!!!

I would make sure your fronts will lower more than 3" if you are going with 3" blocks for the rear. You don't want your truck with a reverse rake look. :D

I used to have 2" blocks in the rear. After removing the spare tire and going with roll pan, it raised the back up 1/2" to 3/4". That's when I went with 3" blocks. Now it sits level again. The ride quality is the same but, obviously, you will bottom out more.

am I missing something? what does a link to a stepside F150 have to do with lowering an Explorer?

Dannyboy, just showing that I'm no stranger to suspension...That's my 88, what's the matter, you don't like her?

Looks like I'll start with 2" and go from there. Thanks for the help guys.
