2 problems....need help

first off i bought my 01 explorer sport 4wd in june and about 2 months of having it the 4 wheel drive would only work sometimes. Now it just flat out doesnt work...when you turn the knob its like nothing even happend..no sound...no lights...nothing. Ive been searching and im thinking it may be the shift motor and i found an aftermarket one for about 120 bucks. Second its having a real rough idle and then it will die. Sometimes it takes awhile before it runs ruff but it will eventually start and then dies. I searched and found something about a IAC vavle on alldata at my work and saw that there are reports of the 4.0 having problems of that nature....

Your 01 sport has which 4.0L V6? OHV or SOHC?

open the hood, does it say SOHC on the big plastic thing?

There are pictures of both engines on this forum, let me see what I can find.

Its likely a SOHC

Is the truck slow or semi fast?
