i did my searching and found some of my answers to my ?

i want to lift my first gen about 2 inches [to start] and want to do the suspension lift.

it looks like my two options are

1)f150 coil spacers and shackes

or

2)skyjacker 2" lift

what are the pro's and con's here? it would seem to me the skyjacker lift would be the better option of two.

thanks

Well I have done both somewhat.

I went to Ebay and found a set of 2" lift coils then bought an AAL and Shackles. I also have a set of F150 Spacers that I use under my 5.5" lift coils.

The shackle and spacer is cheaper, but they are basically the same for install.

thanks with a ? for you... since you have more than one vehicle i may be looking at this wrong but it seems that yuo are running 2" lift coils up front and AAL's and shackles in the rear? does that cause the truck to sit raked with say ~2" of lift in the front and ~3.5" in the rear?

i think the since the cost of the springs is so cheap that the 2" coil spring is def. the way to go over the f150 spacer. as far as the rear goes, will the AAL give me a full 2" of lift?

i just want to be able to add slightly larger tires and want to sit flat and even, no rake....

thanks

Well here's the deal I bought the coil spacers, Shackles and AAL from my buddy after we did a 6" Skyjacker lift on his EX. He was using all this in conjunction to run 32's and his truck sat level. It was confusing to me as well. All I know is that it was level, I found some cheap 2" lift skyjacker coils and even though I saw his level I questioned whether his leafs were sagging. Well just to be safe when he replaced his rear leafs with some from a 4dr I bought his old leafs. I know that my drivers rear sags due to fuel tank weight so I can be certain with using his old leafs I will run level also. The rear is going "UP" today so I will post a pic tonight of it.

Well I thought I might just add this. My wife decided that she wanted some larger tires so I mounted my winter tires on her 4dr. 31x10.5's and they fit just fine no rub without any lift at all.

Another tid bit of info. I bought some f150 spacers on here for her Explorer and when they came they were different than the other ones I have on my 91. On my 91 the spacers are fairly round and the center hole is exactly centered on the spacer. I believe they came off a 4wd F150. The ones that I got and appears that everyone uses on this board are from a f150 2wd and the center hole is offset and there is a prong that hangs down. Just FYI I am looking into this right now.

I know this is a really old thread but i did a "f150 spacer" search and this was one for the first results, but to clarify if your looking to do the f150 spacer on your rig (like i am) you will need the coil spacers from an f-150, 1980-1996 *2WD*

full size bronco spacers will work too but i dont remember what year span it was, but i know for sure it was "something"-1997

heres a good write up from "the ranger station" on the spacers including ford factory part numbers.

FYI: The Ranger Station is a cool site to checkout, legitimate stuff that works for our explorers too. i used to have a 2000 Ranger and i was on that site more then any other.
