I’m looking for an engine oil dipstick tube for a 2000 5.0. It’s ford part number XL2Z-6754-AA but discontinued. Does anyone have a spare or an idea for a replacement?

I have researched a few possibilities and found a few companies that do actually manufacture custom dipsticks.

For the tube, however, if I was unable to find one in a junkyard or eBay, I would fabricate one from thin wall steel tubing. Match the dipstick hole diameter in the block and possibly weld a larger diameter tube that accommodates the factory dipstick itself to the smaller diameter dipstick hole tube. To make things easier, I would probably just bend up tube that is one diameter only, the diameter of the dipstick hole in the block. I would then fab a dipstick using some stainless steel cable with a crimped on level indicator. Fabricating the handle would need to be done using some roundstock. Drill a hole through the body of the handle's primary axis to accommodate the cable end, then drill a lateral hole halfway through the handle to then tap it for the thread matching a set screw and retain the cable to the handle in that manner.

Our local clutch & brake specialty store can bend steel tubing in most configurations. These guys are used to bending steel brake lines in various sizes and have the tooling to bend/duplicate steel lines up to around a half inch or better. I had my local guy bend me a replacement for an obsolete Bronco throttle body cooling return line out of stainless. Perhaps you have a similar shop or store in your area. They would need your original for a pattern, so this could lead to some down time for the vehicle. There could be other potential conditions that need to be taken into consideration, but it's worth a few phone calls anyway. FWIW, we had to remove the LT exhaust manifold from my 2001 to be able to get the original tube out anyway. There are also custom options, perhaps something related to a 95 Mustang GT 5.0 or an OBS F150 302 could be made to work too. There is big aftermarket support for both vehicles. It could very likely require using a different dipstick to match.

For the guy with one post. If you come back, you can get the replacement stick here on E-bay. 5.0 Explorer dip stick
I have made replacement tubes for old 302s. You can use 3/8" metal fuel/transmission line from the parts stores. Copy your old one and tack weld the old bracket to it. 3/8" is the size of the hole in the block. Dipsticks only cooperate with tubes with one bend.

@Mesozoic Do you have a build in progress page for your '66 Mustang GT fastback: transformation in progress? I would like to see what you have going on.
