2000 Explorer EB V6
Hello Everyone! I am Dan. I have searched around on the forums and have learned quite a bit. I took my 2000 Explorer V6 OHC Eddie Bauer in and was told that i needed upper and lower thermostat housings.. 2 sensor. He quoted me 175.00 for the parts and 75.00 labor unless he had to take the top manifold off and then it would be 150.00 labor. Went to my ford dealer to check on the parts, and they will only sell me the complete unit.. to the tune of 400.00. It seems what I have been seeing is a lot less than 175.00, but I have tried to find the exact parts but want to stay with the the higher quality that was suggested and, of course, match up the sensors correctly. I will do this myself if i can find the correct parts. Any help or suggestions. Thanks Dan.

thank you very much. Not sure how i missed that one.!!!!

Hello tech by trade.. I ordered the complete parts list (motorcraft parts) for 140.00 which included tax and 2nd day delivery from rock auto. His 175.00 was just for the upper and lower housing only. And the needed to add the labor onto that. I'll try it myself. I'll post the results on here. Thanks.

Ok.. Had a wiring harness in the way. got that taken care of. now i have a tube/hose in the way and can get it off. It has a nipple fitting and runs in front then underneath the thermostat housing. 2 pictures included. Any ideas?????

The "hose from hell"? :angryfire: (Water pump bypass) If you're replacing it, just cut. If not, those constant tension factory hose clamps are a PITA in confined spaces. Squeeze the tabs and slide it down toward the water pump. Wrap with cloth and
twist back and forth while pulling down with pliers.

Without buying $40 Craftsman or Lisle constant tension hose clamp pliers, bent needle nose pliers works wonders in situations like this.

Was trying to post 2 pictures, but can get them to upload. This is the 3/4" hose/tube that Tees off with the horizontal sides going to either side of the manifold and the vertical going in front then diving under the lower housing and terminating about a foot further. I cut it and it is solid plastic under the rubber???

Finally the 2 pictures!!
