2000 explorer lower thermostat housing

Just changed one of these myself two weekends ago. Giant pain. For what its worth the original lower housing is sold separately for under $40 (called a water outlet) aftermarket complete with gaskets. I found one in stock at O'Reillys.

When I was removing mine, two weeks ago, 4.0 SOHC. I removed both sensors, my housing was toast anyway so I bought a new sensors as well.

I removed the CKP wire, pulled it all the way out, it was a dam greasy mess anyway. Cleaned it an put some new loom and tape on it when I was done. And maybe some of you recall, I had a bad time of this back around Thanksgiving. I tried the cheap route, a four seasons lower only. Put that in twice before realizing it leaked worse than the original. Ended up using the threaded Dorman and my old sensors. I have air tools and I pulled everything. Three freaking times.
