Hi, I am feeling a shudder in the rear end of the truck when i shift from reverse to forward, right as i begin to drive forward it vibrates for a bit. i dont think its the transmission but I am not sure. maybe the autobox or axle gears? please help!!

thanks
kelly

or could it be the clutch pack? rear dif? ugh!
my dealer told me that the tires are "cupped"( whatever that means) and are causing the problem, but wouldnt it have the vibration all the time if it was?

Welcome to the forum!
To explain the cupped tires,,, run your hand around your tires both directions and one way Will feel much rougher than the other. This is cupped tires(comes from takin corners fast + not rotating tires)
Not to agree with the dealer but I've seen cupped tires look and sound like much more serious issues but was just the "cupped" or unevenly worn tires...
Is your truck 4x4? V6 or v8? Auto transmission I'd assume.mileage?
The explorers are known for a rear end whine in some cases...
If you were convinced it was more than tires I'd really suggest rotating the tires in a x pattern(maybe drive a tank of gas through her) and see if anything changes... If not I'd suspect its a u joint or bearing going... Doesn't sound like anything major especially if a dealer agreed, they LOVE selling stuff...
