Ok so here's the deal:

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer sport, and Im trying to wire 1 subwoofer to 1 amp through my factory head unit using a RCA converter. I have included a picture of my setup below but for now let me explain what's going on here and see if you can help me troubleshoot it.

I have the factory head unit wired through factory harness untouched/uncut/unspliced (for the most part). All wires are where they should be. I have the RCA converter grounded to the black ground on the head unit, and two input wires wired to what I think are the +/- of one of my door speakers.

On the other end of the converter I have RCA outputs that I have leading into the Input side of my amp, RED and WHITE. My Amp is wired 12V+ to the battery, and grounded to a bolt on the chassis of my car. The +/- wires are running from that to the sub.

The problem here is my remote wire. I've put it to the battery and the amp remains on (go figure). I put it to the 50 amp ignition fuse under my hood and it remains on as well (?). I put it to the smaller 10-15 amp ignition fuse (which is missing, but my car still cranks?) and I get no response at all. I put it to a fuse in my fuse box (The Instrument Cluster/AutoLamp Sensor/Daynight Mirror fuse), and it works when the car is cranked (as it should, right?)

So that being said, everything checks out as it should, or so I think. So now I play music and it plays perfectly but the subwoofer is not even moving. No power to the sub? I've even taken it out of the box and checked the wires thorougly... nothing.

Keep in mind I've taken a blind guess as to which wires Im wiring that converter too. Can anyone help me figure out where to get a diagram for the factory wiring on the explorer? I've seen a few around the internet but all of which are differently color coded then the one I have, which is 2000 stock. Please Help, thanks in advance for the advice.

im not sure if that wire on the converter is a gr4ound. actually i believe it is a remote wire if im not mistaken. i have the same converter in my buddies 97 expo. i didnt even use that wire coming off the box. un-ground it and try that

LF Speaker (+) ORANGE/LIGHT GREEN
LF Speaker (-) LIGHT BLUE/WHITE
RF Speaker (+) DARK GREEN/ORANGE
RF Speaker (-) WHITE/LIGHT GREEN
LR Speaker (+) GRAY/LIGHT BLUE
LR Speaker (-) TAN/YELLOW
RR Speaker (+) ORANGE/RED
RR Speaker (-) BROWN/PINK

there are your speaker wire colors. put the remote turn on to the yellow/black on the back of the radio and it will turn on and off with your ignition.

Izzapac, Have you got a fix yet? Try using the blue wire on the head unit as the remote turn on. the amp should only come on if the headunit is on. If there is not 12 volts to the remote turn on the amp will not work. Post what you have done lately and we will go from there. I have a few wiring dieagrams You might be abl to use.

hook the remote wire up to your ignition wire in your head unit or to the power wire in your head unit and your amp will only turn on when your turn your key over. hooking it up to the battery only allows continuous power to the amp. even if you by pass it to the fuse box. hope this helps

Man- I hope he got tunes by now, that was almost 3 years ago... :D
