I need help! I have a 2000 Ford Explorer XLS 4.0 V6 OHV, VIN-X. I started hearing a Chirping/Squealing noise last week when I started my truck but went away after about a minute and then it came and went. I replaced the Serpentine belt, Belt Tensioner, Idler Pulley, Water Pump and Fan Clutch and the Alternator, and the Chirping/Squealing is still there. It is loud at startup if the truck sits overnight but goes away after a minute I hear it while driving ever now and then and when it is in park also, its not so bad if i drive it more than a half hour but it is still there. I took it to a Ford Dealership and they have no idea but they said it is defenitly a external noise. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Thanks.....Tony

Is there anyone even on here?? Wow some forum!

It could be your cam position sensor causing the
chirping. If the sound resonance is about 1/2 of
the engine rpm, then that would tend to confirm it.

The sensor is located to the rear of the intake manifold,
partially hidden by the coil pack. Do a search on here
for more information on how to chang it.
Good luck and welcome to the forum......

Thanks I just got a cam pos. sensor and a cam shaft syn. assembly going to put it in today hope this solves the problem. Thanks for the reply.

Did your cam position sensor replacement work? Have replaced all including a/c and after a/c replacement the squeek went away for about 3 weeks and then returned.

Does anyone answer if the free advice worked?? Wow some forum!
