2000 Mountaineer O/D off, no speedo

My 2000 Mountaineer 4.0L 6 cyl. has the O/D off light on, speedometer quit working, no cruise control and the ABS light is on. I have been reading some other threads and it seems all of these issues may be related. Ford dealership gave me an estimate for over $3000 including a new tranny. The transmission seems to work fine other than not getting into O/D, it shifts good, doesn't slip and 4WD works normally. Am I on the right track thinking that this may be an ABS control module or VSS problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Update

Update on this problem. I unplugged the speed sensors at the rear end and both front wheels, cleaned them and plugged them back in. I have speedometer and cruise control back but still have an ABS light and O/D off light.
