O/D Off not working

2000 AWD. i noticed that when i push the O/D OFF button nothing happens. no O/D off light, no downshift while in high gear. i also don't see the O/D OFF light on during the bulb check. the transmission functions normally.

any ideas as to wear to start looking? could it be that this function won't work if the bulb is burnt out?

it's not a big deal, as i'd probably never need it, but i'm of the mind-set that if something is there it should work as intended.

The switch is probably bad. It comes out of the end of the shift lever, you just have to have very tiny tools, and patience. Practice this while trying to pull one in a junk yard if you have one available.

Somewhere there is a thread with pictures how to remove it.

You "might" try soaking the bad one with wd40 and then clean it out real good with electrical cleaner, this might bring the switch back to life.

It is a "momentary" switch. Check it with a meter.

Or, could be a broken wire in the column. The overdrive button wiring is 2 very small back wires I think
