I have a 2000 Explorer XLS 4.0 SOHC that I recently purchased. The odometer and the speedometer aren't working. The cruise control works and there is no ABS light. I can read the vehicle speed through the obdII port with my scanner. The VSS in the rear differential has 1100 ohms resistance between the 2 pins. I believe that I have a disconnected wire somewhere between the VSS and the speedometer signal wire for the instrument cluster. Where does the cluster get the speedometer signal from? Is there a wire diagram available that shows where I should be looking for a cut wire or short in the circuit? I also purchased a cluster at the junkyard. The speedometer and odometer didn't work when I installed it.

Here is a great source for wiring diagrams. They don't provide physical routing, but will tell you what feeds what and provides wire color. Good luck.
