2000 Ranger with no 4 low. High works great.

2000 Ranger no 4wheel low....high works great, anyone have any ideas on what it might be.

Welcome to the forum. The first thing I would suspect is that the shift motor on the transfer case isn't working. The shift from 2wd to 4wd is all electronic, while the shift to low requires the motor on the transfer case to change positions. Are there relays clicking when you try to shift? You are trying to shift into low while in neutral with your foot firmly on the brake, I assume?

You were right...it turned out to be the motor...it actually looks just like a windshield wiper motor. Thanks.
