I recently swapped out an A4LD to a 5 speed manual. I noticed a week later that I have no 4LOW. Previously the drive selector had to be in Neutral for 4 Low to engage so I am assuming I have to make some wiring adjustments. I am seeking some wiring specifics in this mater any help is appreciated.

Here is some additional information I thought may be helpful. Included in the swap was the Steering column. During the changeout I noticed a single wire coming down from the column and connecting to a single wire connector. Trouble is that wire in the process got disconnected from wherever it was fastened to. It has what looks like a small plastic clip on the end with a very small piece of copper that would be used for a connection point. I hadn't notcied anything that wasn't working so I had all but forgot about it until now. Someone mentioned the neutral switch for the transfer case may have been on the original column? Would it possibly be that the wire I didn't connect was merely to complete a circuit to ground when the shift was in neutral or park?

Yeah you've gotta have a neutral safetly switch, kind of like what is on the automatics. With out this then the computer doesn't know the vehicle isn't in gear and the clutch is depressed. I don't know about the earlier explorers, but my 97 had a wiring harness tucked up under the dash to plug the switch/sensor in.

You need to move/defeat the switch on the old auto column shift.
