I am replacing my muffler and picked up a Walker 18564 muffler. This is my 4th muffler on this truck and the first time I have had problems. The outlet is 2" and my old muffler had a 2.25 inch outlet. My truck was made in Nov 1999 and I have noticed in the listings that the 18564 is for trucks built before 11-8-99. There is no listing for anything built after that date,

I can make it work with an adapter, but was wondering if there is another part number for a different muffler

According to Walker's online catalogue, the muffler after that build date has 1 inlet and 1 outlet for the sohc. Is yours single inlet or double inlet?

If double inlet, you have the correct muffler and it will fit inside the stock tailpipe after stretched/flared. You may need a band style clamp to get a good seal.

Ran into this a couple years ago on my 99. Also on the 4th muffler. 2nd and 3rd were from CTC and could not get 2 full years out of either. Bought a Walker 3 years ago and still no holes and paid less than CTC's brand.

Hope this info is of help.

MY truck uses the dual inlet design. My last 2 Mufflers were from CTC and were Maremont. They lasted 3 years each and the OEM muffler lasted 8 years as it was made Stainless steel. The Maremont and a 2.25 inch outlet pipe so my OEM tail pipe slipped right in after I had cut it off the original muffler as it was welded.

I think Walker expects you to replace the tail pipe with one sized for their muffler. My Original tail pipe and resonator are still good, so I will have to use an adapter or expand the muffler outlet from 2 to 2.25 inches. That is a big stretch IMO, and I think will only weaken the steel. I think I will cut off one of the inlet pipes from my old muffler and use that as an adapter...

Another option might be using a lapped or stepped band clamp, like pictured below. Not sure if they are supposed to be used as an adapter though.

I used stainless band clamps for the install of my Gibson catback.
