2001 engine from ranger to 99 explorer?

Anyone know if a 2001 4.0sohc engine from a ranger will work in a 99 explorer of same size? Both engines are from a two wheel drive.Checking my leaking head, I found a tiny pin hole next to the valve in #5 cylinder. So I guess unless I can find a good used head I'm looking at this used motor with 67k miles.How did that tiny hole get there?Looks like a small needle wouldn't hardly start into it..Back to these engines...Will they swap? Thanks

The engine will bolt in, but not sure if the thermostat housing was changed in 01 or not, and your knock sensor pig tail end may differ compared to the 01 engine but its only a bolt that holds the wire to the engine.

Thanks Glen, was worried that more would be different. Guess it's the same horse power as the explorer isn't it? Thanks again...
