2000 Explorer Limited
I am a new member - 1st blog. We just purchased a 2000 Explorer Limited. Two days after we purchased it, the radio display stopped showing the radio station and time. When we first noticed it, it would work for awhile (it work come on for awhile and then go off) but now it doesn't even come on. So, I thinking maybe it has a short. Or is it possible maybe a burned out bulb? Or is it something that I definitely need to take to the dealer or a stereo shop for repair. :us:

There is a fix for this, just search for it. It has been covered many times.

About two months ago I had the same thing with my 2000 Eddie Bauer. I took it to the dealer and was told they would have to replace the radio. They wanted $275 for a new radio. I went on Ebay and typed in radio for 2000 Ford explorer. I found a number of them and found one the same as I have with CD & tape player. It had a buy now price of $100.00 and $15.00 shipping. Then I found the tool also for $4.00 to remove Ford radios and purchased both the tool and radio. The radio went right in and works perfect. I have the old radio, which is just like yours will not light the clock or stations. I can not find any place that can fix them. It was like yours it would come on at times.

for not much more than another stock, you can get a nice decent aftermarket reciever, if you cant fix the stock one

That stock radio is a Pioneer, the best Ford has ever installed. The display repair is about $60, they all have the issue. I love the big buttons, great reception and display. Add RCA's and the thieves will pass your truck by. Regards,
