Hi, I am new to the forum and Im interested in learning. I am the proud owner of a very well taken care of 2001 Explorer limited. The original owner really took great care of it and I'm trying to follow with the same care. Today, when driving,I started to hear a raw squeak in the right front of the vehicle. About that time, the check suspention light came on. When driving, steering to the right or left and hitting bumps the noise is horrible. With the vehicle off, I can push down on the right front corner and simulate the same noise.
After I got to my destination (Work) I started looking for any type of information I could find on the air suspension system. To be quite Frank, my possible problem sounds horrible. And the solution? I talked to a guy that I work with and he spoke highly of this site.
I have not heard the compressor kick on or off this morning. To be honest, Im not really sure that I have ever heard the compressor other than when I connect my sons dirtbike trailer on the hitch. In my thinking- if it is a blown bag, the compressor whould run continuosly to compensate for the air loss. I don't know of a way to make it run, other than adding a substantial amount of weight to the rear end.
If there is someone that is familiar with this situation I would greatly appreciate advice. With this being an older vehicle and if I do have a serious problem Im realy not sure wich path to follow. Thanks for any help.
Also, I have decided to spend the night at work- due to the weather. Does anyone recomend that I do not drive it home tommarow?
