2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac won't start!

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, v6, 4.0 L, 2 wheel drive,Manual Transmission.I have a problem with it not starting.I have replaced the Battery,Changed the plugs.and replaced the fuel pump over a year ago.I hear the pump start.Cranks but no start.Today I tried to start it and it backfired,and still won't start.I checked all the fuses and found no bad fuses.I'm not sure what to do next.Could my timing be off? should I just have it towed to a mechanic.Trying to fix myself to save money.Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Wires replaced? Coils need to be replaced? Maybe try those.

Did you check the inertia switch?

I did check the inertia switch,It is down.I will hit on it to pop it up an try to reset it again. I see there has been problems with these switches,
