2001 Sport engine replacement question/4.6 maybe??

So I have a 2001 Explorer Sport that most liklely needs a motor and after owning two SOHC and working on a ton of them I came to realize that I hate this motor. I love the 2 door Sports so a newer Explorer isn't for me but I have been thinking about it.

I am thinking of looking for a 4.6l as long as it will bolt up to the Sports I can't weld for crap so fabricating mounts etc.. is out of the question). I suppose my other question would be will my transmission bolt up to a 4.6l?

Any feedback, positive or negative will be appreciated.

You'd be better off getting a 5.0 and a 4r70w out of a 98-01 4 door, I don't think the 4.6 will fit in the 01 sport (bolt in correctly without fabrication), I could be wrong though, on the other hand you could just do a 4.0 OHV motor and then you could use the same trans.

I wasn't sure if the 5.0 was bolt in either so I didn't mention it. I would do the OHV but I figured if it needs a motor I might as well do something a little more powerful and I think the OHV has less power than the SOHC.
