Hello,

Wondering if anyone has ever replaced just a ball joint boot?

The upper boot on the front passenger side is torn / degraded but the ball joint is in good working order with no unwanted play (as verified by a mechanic and my own test.)

Sprayed inside it with white lithium grease but really want to replace the boot if possible.

Advance Auto says they don't have it. Will I have to go to a pull-a-part type place or is there an alternative (other option or specialty manufacturer?)

As always, any insight appreciated as this exceptional forum is helping me keep my truck on the road!

Napa part number 650-1178 , I think it is for a really big tie rod end or something but it was the best match I have ever been able to find and the last one I bought about a year ago was $5.39

Thanks for the reply. This is exacting what I was looking for!

Any advice on installation? Is it a much different size?

Looking forward to it as mechanics are telling me there is no way to do it.

Mechanics are probably telling you the boots are not replaceable because the actual ball joint alone in the upper arms are not replaceable.
