02 4.6 4x4 delayed engagement into reverse & 3-4 chatter
Has 140k now, tranny flush fluid/filter service was done about 20k ago.
No O/D or CEL lights, but the ABS light has been on for couple weeks. Forward gears seem fine.
Does my tranny have the same problem/fix as the A4LD?
I see in the FAQ it says "About 50% of the people will find a fix in replacing the seals on the low/reverse servo with either a "double lip" upgrade, or a "D ring" seal kit. Both are cheap (under $5) but you have to drop the pan and valve body to get to it"
It takes about 5 seconds for reverse to engage, and when it does, it's weak. And when it's cold, the first time it runs through the gears it chatters hard on the 2-3 up shift. Can feel it chatter through the whole truck. But then it does it once and it's fine then after.
Any help would be appreciated.
