Can anyone give me some great suggestions on a tranny fluid. I have a 2002 Ex with a manual tranny and 125000 miles. I have read here it takes 2.5 quarts, is that correct. Thanks

I would look in the manual to be sure how much it takes and what kind of fluid. Two and a half quarts sounds kind of low. Your Explorer is a 2002 4 door with a manual and not a 2 door Sport? That's a truly rare Explorer there. I would hang on to it.

Thanks Briway. I downloaded a PDF manual and found the answers. Fill with 2.4L (5.1 pints) my math converts that to about 2.53 quarts of Dexron II to the fill level anyway. If I add too much it will run out:(

Wait, where does he say it's a 4 door. I thought only the 2 door sports had the 5 speed manual?

He doesn't that's why I was asking. He never said it was a Sport so I was just guessing. You could get '91-'00 4drs with a manual and 2002 4drs with manuals in addition to the Sports.

Only the 4 door XLS had the option for a manual.

Only after '98, before that you could get a XLT with a manual. Until '93 or '94 you could even get an Eddie Bauer with a manual.

Sorry for the confusion. It is a 2002 4 door with manual transmission. I bought is used from dealer with 1700 miles in 2004. I really did not want a manual but I could not pass that deal up.

Nice, it's a rarity as I said before. Hang on to it. If you ever want to sell it be sure to post it here on the forum. I know some people on here would probably want it. I would probably buy one if I had the money, but I already have two Explorers.
