Recently, my check engine light lit up on my 4.0 L 2002, I had the code read at one of the parts stores. It read "excessive egr flow" I forget the exact code number. Anyway after searching the forums it was suggested that it might be the DPFE sensor. I went to my Ford dealer and picked up a new one for $30.00. Changed it and after about a day the check engine light went off and hasn’t come on since.
Thanks every one.
Just one more thing, even though the problem was corrected and the light went out, I am pretty sure the code is still stored in the computer.
Is there a way to clear the computer with out using a code reader? I really don’t want to go to the dealer or one of the parts stores. Or does it matter? Can I just leave it in there.
Thank You
Lenny
