2002 Explorer Limited 4X4
I just replaced the transmission on my 2002 4X4 Explorer Limited and got it back a couple of days ago. It makes a high frequency noise that I have never heard of before. Can anyone give me a hint on what this noise is?? Prior to getting the new tranny I have never heard this noise before.

First of all I am very disappointed that a 2002 would need a new transmission as my original 3year/36K ran out as I had 55K on it. Can you a believe a vehicle that is less than 3 years old and needs a new transmission?? I paid quite a bit to get a new transmission in. It runs fine right now but at low speed it makes this high pitch sound.

Furthermore, can anyone recommend who I should write to to see if they would help me out with cost of this new transmission given the vehicle is barely a couple years old for a top of the line Explorer. I'm still fuming from shelling out almost 2K for a replacement transmission. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

2k installed is a good deal, i would just take it back to that place that put the tranny in cause a wierd noise like that means something is rubbing/wearing like it is not supposed to.

the trans going at 55k is not un heard of for the peice of crap 5r55e
