Hi.my name is Mark and i live in Ct. I bought my first Explorer yesterday. On the way home heard the rear end whining but i think i learned how to fix that from this site. What is driving me nuts is the third brake light. All 5 bulbs were blown and the piece they plug into is partially melted. Not getting power at the connector either. Can anybody help with this? Thanks...

I just changed the 5 light bulbs in my 3rd brake light so I had this thing taken apart and if you think the bulb housing is the problem, just get another one from a junk yard/scrap yard. As long as the wiring harness plug is good, just replace the bulb holder/housing. The bulb housing will separate from the red colored lens housing, just push those little "tabs" in on the sides and it will come apart. If the wiring harness plug is bad, you'll need to get the schematic on how the power wires run thru the under the roof area to where it plugs into and go from there.

I just converted mine to use size 194 LEDs and mine was also melted but still functional, pulled a new one off a 04 from the junkyard yesterday for 3 bucks.
