Hello Everyone,

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer and I had just received my new Transfer Case Control Module. I replaced the old one with the new one, but my transmission is still stuck in 4X4 LOW. I am pin pointing the problem down to one thing.

The control module shown here has the wires still plugged into it. That's how it came to me. I ended up un-plugging those two cables because the old one had those exact plugs on it, so I used the old cables on my new control module. Should I have kept those plugged in? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

NO! Two relays are used to switch between 4X4 HIGH, and 4X$ LOW. They are likely contained in the Module; 2004 had no module. If new module not bad, shift motor mounted on rear of transfer case is bad, or jammed internally. It's ONLY purpose is to shift transfer case in and out of 4X4 LOW. Other possibility is broken/jammed part in transfer case.
