A couple weeks back my door ajar light was coming on intermitently. First thought was check explorer forums,someone has to have had this problem,right?
Wow was i shocked to find how many people have had this prob and how many people have their take on how to fix it. After some lengthy thread reading i found a way to isolate the drivers door as the problem by using the alarm. Then,it was crappy out so I went the easy route and sprayed WD40 in the door mechanism. After opening and closing the door about 10X the light went out..Fixed ! ..NOT
. It came back on a couple days later. Next step check wiring as these are famous for wires wearing through at the door joint, they checked fine. Last resort ..replace switch.
Back onto forum and watched a few vids on replacing switch. Off to local recycle yard and remove a good working switch in 20mins ! cost $2.00.
Back home and away i go. Took approx 1hr total and she's all good to go.This also took care of my battery drain and my alarm going off whenever it felt like it.
Bottom line..To all you who recommend the WD40 (btw i love wd40) forget it ,its a short term temp fix. Replace the switch,it's easy !
