Hi All! I hope you're doing well.

I've got a 2002 Mazda B4000 with a clutch that was replaced 60,000 kms ago. The truck will not go into first from neutral at a standstill, I always have to go into fourth before it takes any of the other gears. It'll shift from 1-2-3-4-5 once rolling, but the shifts are rough. It'll also go into first from neutral if it is rolling.

I've bled the clutch and master cylinder (not the slave) and made sure that the clutch was moving enough when the pedal was pressed (it was moving about 1/2 inch).

I know that at one point a previous owner had used MTF instead of ATF, could this have screwed my synchros? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you all in advance and have a good one.

The Mazda trans can run with motor oil or atf, that is likely not the issue
The correct fluid is Mercon iii / dextron regular atf. Some Mazda models and import rebuilders will spec 10w-30 in this same transmission. I personally use atf

1/2” is good but maybe not enough movement of the throw out bearing

You likely have air trapped in the master cylinder

How did you bleed the system?

When the clutch was replaced did they use new parts / hydraulics and are they quality parts?

How many miles on the 5 speed?
