it's not the front driveshaft. it's spinning and doing it's thing no matter which way the wheels are turned. your problem is coming from the rear differential. locate your axle code on the driver's side door. I bet it's probably d4. the binding, popping noise you hear during turns is caused by a limited slip rear differential that isn't slipping, so to speak. during turns your inside wheels turn at a different speed than the outside wheels. the job of a limited slip differential is to momentarily disengage the positive lock between the two back wheels during turns. when this fails, many symptoms occur but the most common are chattering, binding, whirring, and popping noises from a dead stop during turns. not cheap to fix. one thing you can try is what i did. i simply went to an abandoned parking lot and drove in a sharp figure 8 for about 10 minutes, went home, drained the fluid and refilled using Lucas synthetic gear oil with a sliplock additive, and called it good. it worked for me and might work for you. hope this helps.
